The results of the MRI indicated that Ethan actually had a brain tumor that was growing at the base of the cyst.  The tumor was causing a small amount of swelling.  Two Pediatric Neurosurgeons, Dr. Sean Jebraili and Dr. Gary Magram, were consulted.  Given the shape of the tumor and its pattern of growth, both surgeons were optimistic that the tumor was benign, but felt strongly that it had to be surgically removed ~  the sooner the better.  

The attending physicians were not yet ruling out a virus.
