Our first indication that there was a problem came this Friday afternoon when Ethan became ill at Daycare.  At Kim's request, the Daycare called for an ambulance, and the Paramedics routed Ethan to INOVA Fairfax Children's Center as his symptoms were consistent with those of a head injury.  

The Emergency Room doctors believed that Ethan had a virus, although no other viral symptoms were present.  Because Ethan had fallen the day before on the playground, he was given a CT scan to rule out a head injury.  The CT Scan showed that he had a fluid-filled cyst on his brain.  The doctors believed that the cyst was an insignificant finding and was unrelated to his symptoms.  To be sure, a follow-on MRI was scheduled for the next day to confirm that the cyst was, indeed, an insignificant finding.
