Ethan's counts were too low to be admitted today. His ANC was again 500, border line neutropenic. He'll get GCSF shots tonight and tomorrow and we'll try again for an admission on Thursday with a discharge hopefully by Sunday afternoon.
We did get some incredibly good news this morning at his doctor's appointment! Dr. Horn indicated that the possibility exists for ending Ethan's treatment a little early ~ possibly in the May timeframe. That would still give him a full years' worth of treatment while minimizing the toxicity of prolonged high-dose chemotherapy. Ethan has tolerated all of the treatment amazingly well and has continued to have clean scans. Those things, combined with Ethan's optimistic prognosis from the beginning, have set the stage to allow his Oncologists to at least consider an early end. I'm trying not to get my hopes up too high, but would be elated to see this come to an end sooner than we had originally anticipated.
I'll let everyone know how this cycle goes once it finally gets underway.
Regards,
Kim.
