Hi, everyone, and good news! The results from Ethan’s scans (MRI and MRV) came back and they are clean! No evidence of tumor growth and the areas of enhancement (most likely scar tissue from surgery) are shrinking.
Radiation is also going as well as we could hope for. Ethan is warming up nicely to the Radiation staff and now eagerly waits for them to call his name over the loud speaker. When we get into the treatment room, he pulls his central line out from underneath his shirt, hands the end to the Anesthesiologist, and then settles in for the ride. When he wakes up, the nurses break out a big tin of “Ethan treats” and let him take a trip to the toy closet. Yes, this is EVERY day so you can imagine what our toy closet is beginning to look like... Poor Santa won’t hold a candle to this gang.
Life has been a little strange for all of us lately while we all adjust to
this phase of treatment. Ethan’s nap schedule is down the toilet, making his
emotional temperament – shall we say - somewhat limited in capacity. On the
positive side, I’ve found that I can cut his nails when he’s still sleeping
which will make both of us much happier over the next 5 weeks. Albert has to
endure me waking up at o’dark-thirty, and then is rewarded with a
solo-wrestling match to get Kyra dressed. He says he only knows how “to do”
3 or 4 outfits, so she’s been suffering a slight fashion impairment. Nothing
serious... mostly wearing the same thing twice or wearing it backwards. She’s
pretty forgiving and her babysitter just winks at me when I pick her up ;-). I’m
doing okay but am very tired. For those of you counting along at home, I’m now
on my 5th pair of sunglasses in 5 months. I had the same pair for 6 years and
now suddenly each pair I buy develops a magnetic attraction to my children’s
feet. ![]()
I’ll be sure to let everyone know if anything new develops.
Regards,
Kim.
